Zhang Shuai of China and McCartney Kessler of the USA swept past home duo Elizabeth Mandlik and Caty McNally 6-3, 6-0 in the women's doubles round of 16 at the ATX Open in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, to advance to the last eight.
The Chinese and American pair came out strong in the first set and quickly claimed the frame 6-3. Zhang and Kessler maintained their momentum in the second set to seal the deal 6-0, closing out the match in just 47 minutes overall.
In other action, China's Yuan Yue and her Russian partner Anna Blinkova defeated top seeds Cristina Bucsa of Spain and Miyu Kato of Japan 7-5, 6-4 in one hour and 27 minutes, reaching the quarterfinals in the Lone Star State as well.
