Two traditional Chinese Super League (CSL) powerhouses, Beijing Guoan and Shanghai Shenhua held each other 2-2 in east China's Shanghai Municipality on Saturday night. The visitors continued to remain undefeated at Shenhua's home in the league for as long as 10 years.
Guoan scored first and early in the 11th minute. Guga's free kick pass from left was deflected by Shenhua's goalkeeper Bao Yaxiong, but the ball landed with Dawhan. He then sent it to the box for Lin Liangming to score a header and put the visitors ahead 1-0.
Shenhua tied the score in the 38th minute. Ibrahim Amadou passed to Wu Xi broke into the left area of the box. His shot was blocked by goalie Han Jiaqi, but Wu got the ball back in chaos and made his second attempt for a equalizer.
Guoan suffered another hit before the first half was over. Han punched Jiang Shenglong in the face when they were competing for a corner kick during stoppage time. The referee showed the visiting goalkeeper a yellow card and awarded the hosts a penalty kick. Andre Luis nailed for Shenhua to lead 2-1.
Guoan's bad luck continued in the second half. Their substitute Zhang Yuan tackled down Joao Teixeira in the 81st minute. He was immediately shown a red card, but then the referee changed his decision into a yellow card after checking with the video assistant referee (VAR). However, Zhang was still ejected since it's his second yellow card of the game.
The visitors avoided a loss due to a gift by the opponent's goalie Bao in the 93rd minute. Li Lei's cross from the left enabled Fabio Abreu to shoot a powerful header toward the goal. It hit the bar first, but then bounced off Bao's right arm into the net as a day-saving goal for the visitors.
