The signing of a minerals deal was called off following a tense shouting match between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, D.C., on February 28.

CGTN Stringer hit the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine, to gather local perspectives. Kyiv resident Oleksandr Portian said he agreed with Zelenskyy's stance at his press conference, adding that many Ukrainians have lost their homes and lives in the war. "If Trump wants to be the guy who stops the war, he should listen to our president and understand the situation we are in," Oleksandr said.
