The backlight design of Dafo Cave in Xiangtangshan Caves is quite unique. The halo in the center is very bright, while the outer ring is composed of exquisitely linked pearls. The patterns of lotus flowers, honeysuckle and curling grass are mixed naturally and vividly. Seven fire dragons fly through them, enhancing the patterns of the flames and the clouds. This is typical of the Buddhist artistic style found in the Northern Qi period (550-577). The lighting design offers visitors a deeper sense of visual enjoyment and a more profound experience of ancient Buddhist art.
