The Changle Temple was founded 1,500 years ago during the Northern Qi period in present-day Handan, Hebei Province. It was once known as "the first ancient temple north of the Yellow River." Unfortunately, it was repeatedly destroyed due to Buddhist prohibitions and wars. After many rounds of reconstruction during the Song, Jin, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was razed to the ground in a fire in 1947. At present, only a tower in front of the gate and some carved stone parts remain.
