In 2024, China's express delivery industry soared to a staggering 170 billion parcels, a feat made possible by the tireless efforts of couriers. As new employment models like couriers, food delivery riders and drivers for cab-hailing platforms flourish in the evolving e-commerce economy, safeguarding their rights and well-being has become a national priority in recent years. In Beijing's Jianguomen subdistrict, the local government has established a "warm-hearted lounge," where couriers can recharge during their breaks.
