Canada has hit back at the United States by imposing a retaliatory 25 percent tariff on C$30 billion ($20.7 billion) worth of US imports. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused US President Donald Trump of wanting to ruin the Canadian economy and said Canada would challenge US measures at the World Trade Organization.

CGTN's Xia Cheng spoke with Joe Preston, the Mayor of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, to discuss the local and federal responses against the impact of US tariff policies on Canadian industries and communities.
