The basic trend of the long-term sound development of the Chinese economy remains unchanged, according to a government work report submitted on Wednesday to the national legislature for deliberation.

With insufficient global economic growth momentum, and intensifying unilateralism and protectionism, the multilateral trading system is blocked, and tariff barriers are increasing, which has impacted the stability of the global industrial and supply chains and hindered the international economic cycle, said the report.

Acknowledging the difficulties and problems, confidence in development needs to be strengthened, it said, noting that China has significant institutional advantages, including a super-sized domestic market, a complete industrial system and abundant human resources.
