NPC deputy: Lucid waters and lush mountains boost rural revitalization

CGTN

Zhang Tianren, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), on Wednesday explained how Xinchuan Village in east China's Zhejiang Province has developed over the years by leveraging its resources.

Zhang made the remarks while speaking to the media at the Deputies' Corridor before the opening of the third session of the 14th NPC.

The deputy explained that in the 1980s, the ecological environment of Xinchuan Village was damaged, but over the past two decades, the village has adhered to a path of green development by implementing waste sorting, road hardening and greening, and integrating itself into the new energy industry chain. Villagers are encouraged to develop leisure agriculture, rural tourism and boutique homestays, he added.

With a population of over 3,000, the village has established over 80 enterprises, and the annual per capita income has reached 150,000 yuan (nearly $21,000), said Zhang.

Meanwhile, Xinchuan has built a demonstration zone for common prosperity and partnered with multiple villages in neighboring provinces to share Zhejiang's experience in rural revitalization, promoting common development and prosperity.
