On March 6, at least eight people were injured after a shell was dropped on a civilian district, damaging houses and a church in Pocheon, Seoul. Fire officials suspected that the shell was from ongoing live-fire joint military exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States. Pocheon is about 40 kilometers northeast of Seoul, and near the heavily militarized border with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
