A special guest stopped by CGTN's office – the G1 humanoid robot from Unitree Robotics, based in Hangzhou, east China. You might recognize another model from the company, which wowed audiences with a stunning performance at this year's CMG Spring Festival Gala. See how this high-tech visitor impressed everyone in the office!
Compared to the H1 model that danced at the Spring Festival Gala, which stands about 1.8 meters tall and weighs nearly 50 kilograms, the G1 model is smaller and lighter – standing at approximately 1.3 meters and weighing 35 kilograms. With 23 to 43 joint electrodes, the G1 model offers greater flexibility, enabling it to perform a range of tasks, from learning dance moves to executing simple welding operations with mechanical arms.
Jin Da, marketing manager of Unitree Robotics, said that the development of large models like China's DeepSeek brings endless possibilities to the robotics industry.
"The development of large models provides a solid foundation for robots. This includes improvements in computational power and applications in various other areas," he said.
One of the hot topics at this year's Two Sessions is the concept of new quality productive forces, which emphasizes the integration of technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
"In the future, I believe the application scenarios for humanoid robots will start in large-scale environments like factories and gradually transition to household use," Jin said, adding that he thinks we could expect to see humanoid robots entering our homes within 10 years or even sooner.
"Throughout this development process, we can see that humanoid robots are receiving a lot of attention. The more attention they receive, the more talent and companies will get involved, leading to further innovation and expansion. It's a positive cycle," he said.
