For the sake of an American "New Golden Age" he brags about, U.S. President Donald Trump has kept imposing tariffs on various countries. In fact, since America's founding to the early 20th century, tariffs have always been the most important source of income for the American federal government. Tariffs robs money off of other countries' products while burdening Americans with extra spending on goods, indirectly raising their taxes. This is not about correcting unfair trade practices, asserting national security or any other excuses they've come up with. They want the cash in other people's pocket. That's it.
