CPPCC member: Industrial Internet brings new possibilities

The Industrial Internet has significantly advanced the digitalization, networking and intelligence of the manufacturing industry, said Xu Xiaolan, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), during a question-and-answer session at the Members' Corridor of the third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.

The Industrial Internet utilizes digital technologies such as the internet of things, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide industrial enterprises with a service platform, covering the entire life cycle from design to production to management. With connectivity enabled by the Industrial Internet, new manufacturing and service systems have taken shape, improving the manufacturing industry significantly, said Xu.

In the automotive industry, one company has leveraged the Industrial Internet to connect data from over 2,000 global parts suppliers, shortening the supply cycle by 20 percent and reducing parts allocation errors to zero.

A garment enterprise has used the Industrial Internet to analyze user demand and reduced inventory turnover days, with its production efficiency reaching three times that of its peers.

After eight years of development, the Industrial Internet has been applied in 49 sectors of the national economy, covering all major industrial categories, with the core industry scale reaching 1.53 trillion yuan (about $211 billion), Xu noted.

DeepSeek's open-source AI model has already been widely adopted in fields such as pharmaceuticals, culture and tourism, and is expected to expand on a large scale into the industrial sector in the future. The deep integration of AI and the Industrial Internet will accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing, Xu added.
