Chinese shuttler Chen Yufei advanced to the quarterfinals of the Orleans Masters on Thursday, overcoming South Korean player Sim Yu-jin 18-21, 21-18, 21-12.
Chen initially struggled to find her rhythm, but after losing the first set, she quickly adjusted her game to level the score. In the decisive third set, she seized momentum after leading 11-10, scoring consecutively to secure her victory.
Chen's compatriot Wang Zhiyi made her mark by thrashing South Korea's Kim Ga-eun 21-12, 21-14, thus also advancing to the quarterfinals. Wang will face Chen in a matchup that will determine who progresses to the semifinals.
This tournament serves as a precursor to the All England Badminton Open, and among the top ten ranked women players, only Japan's Yamaguchi Akane, Indonesian star Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan are absent.
