With over 1,500 years of history, the Shaolin Temple dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-557). Located in Dengfeng, a county-level city in Zhengzhou City, central China's Henan Province, the temple is known as the birthplace of Chan Buddhism and the cradle of Shaolin Kung Fu.
As spring snow blankets its ancient halls and stone pagodas, the Shaolin Temple takes on a serene and solemn beauty. The temple's red walls stand in contrast to the white landscape, while the monastery grounds, usually filled with visitors, fall into a peaceful stillness.
