The 2025 Turin Special Olympics Winter Games kicked off with a powerful display of inclusion and unity at the opening ceremony on Saturday night.
This year, over 1,500 athletes from 100 delegations gather to compete in eight sports including Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Figure Skating. Representing China are 48 athletes who will participate in six sports. The Special Winter Olympics Winter will take place from March 9th to 15th, marking the 12th edition of this global event that promotes acceptance and celebrates the achievements of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
With an aim to reach the estimated 200 million people worldwide living with such disabilities, the Special Olympics provides a platform for training, competition and health screenings, encouraging athletes to discover their true potential. The event not only highlights athletic prowess but also emphasizes the importance of community and support for individuals and their families.
