CGTN Poll: Global respondents praise Chinese governance

In the past year, China's GDP reached 134.9 trillion yuan ($18.65 trillion), registering a 5-percent growth rate, ranking among the fastest-growing major economies in the world. The continued improvement of the Chinese economy has brought more benefits to people's livelihoods. According to a survey of 25,883 respondents from 41 countries conducted by CGTN, 84.3 percent of respondents praise China's people-centered development concept and fully affirm the effectiveness of the Chinese government's governance.

Data show that 92.3 percent of global respondents praise China's economic strength. Meanwhile, 81.3 percent of respondents express full confidence in the long-term development of the Chinese economy. Additionally, 89.2 percent affirm the outstanding contribution of the Chinese economy to the world. As the Chinese economy remains stable, people's livelihoods improve. In 2024, employment and prices stayed generally stable, with 12.56 million new urban jobs created. Per capita disposable income increased by 5.1 percent in real terms, and social security for compulsory education, basic old-age care, basic medical care and social assistance were strengthened.

In the survey, global respondents spoke highly of the governance effectiveness of the Chinese government. 78.8 percent, 70.1 percent, 63.4 percent, 61 percent and 58.1 percent of respondents, respectively, said the Chinese government has achieved remarkable results in improving education, raising income, improving the living environment, enhancing public health and improving the natural environment. Additionally, 62.7 percent of respondents say China's institutional advantages provide an important guarantee for high-level government governance.

Furthermore, 71.7 percent of global respondents believe that Chinese people's income is steadily increasing, and 73.9 percent agree that the quality of life in China is continuously improving. 60.6 percent believe that China's poverty population has decreased significantly, and 79.5 percent believe that the quality of education in China is constantly improving. 59.7 percent of respondents believe that China's natural environment is improving, and 91.9 percent of respondents believe that, in the process of pursuing modernization, China has adhered to respecting, adapting to and protecting nature, achieving harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

The above data comes from two surveys launched by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era International Communication Research Institute, including the global polls "China Favorability" and "Chinese Modernization." Respondents cover North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Southeast Asia, East Asia, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East, including individuals from developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Japan, as well as developing countries like Brazil, Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia.
