China's Meng Zhiwei has clinched a silver medal in the men's rings on the opening day of the Baku stop of the Gymnastics World Cup in Azerbaijan.
Meng made his international debut and advanced to the finals in fourth place. He elevated the difficulty of his routine and executed it brilliantly, ultimately earning a score of 13.800 points to secure the silver medal. The gold medal was awarded to Azerbaijan's Nikita Simonov.
In the women's vault, the legendary Oksana Chusovitina from Uzbekistan, at the remarkable age of 49, showcased her enduring talent by winning gold with a score of 13.561 points. Chusovitina has made an incredible eight Olympic appearances, further solidifying her status as a gymnastics icon. Slovenia's Teja Belak took home the silver in this category.
