Yuejianglou Garden, a courtyard established 600 years ago on the north bank of the Xijiang River in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, has witnessed ebb and flow of the southern Chinese city over the centuries. It has served as an academy, a popular gathering place for literati, a command post, and most importantly, the base for an independent regiment led by Ye Ting, an outstanding military commander.
After a great restoration decades ago, the garden is now a free museum open to the public, showcasing the development of Ye Ting independent regiment, and also houses a collection of Duan inkstones, a specialty of Zhaoqing with a history of over 1,300 years.
