China's annual Two Sessions is well underway. Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan's ambassador to China, sat down with CGTN's Xu Jinhui to share his perspectives on the Two Sessions, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

During the interview, the ambassador highlighted that key topics from the Two Sessions include China's focus on economic growth and technological advancements. He praised China's remarkable 5-percent GDP growth despite global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and external trade restrictions, and emphasized the role of digital and green technologies in driving future economic progress.

When discussing China's modernization approach and its relevance to the Global South, the ambassador underscored the country's success in poverty alleviation and its scientific approach to addressing global challenges such as climate change and economic development. He highlighted China's initiatives, including the BRI and the Global Development Initiative, as examples of its commitment to sharing the benefits of development and prosperity with other countries.

As the flagship project of the BRI, the ambassador reflected on CPEC's achievements, particularly in transport and energy infrastructure, and outlined future priorities, including industrial cooperation, livelihood projects and green technologies. He also shared details about upcoming business-to-business matchmaking events aimed at fostering collaboration in sectors such as electric vehicles, solar panel manufacturing and software development.
