China has seen improved figures in domestic tourism and inbound arrivals in 2024, with Chinese travel agencies showing a 10 percent revenue increase, China's Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli said on Tuesday.

Sun made the remarks while answering questions at the Ministers' Corridor following the closing meeting of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Sun said that people's tourism consumption behavior has changed, noting that before, they purchased products out of need, whereas now they mainly pay for the services to gain a deeper level of satisfaction.

"The Chinese animated film 'Nezha 2' has now grossed a total box office of nearly 15 billion yuan ($2.07 billion), so if you have good products, good services, good projects, and good designs, you can definitely make money," Sun said.

However, Sun noted that China still lags behind in infrastructure spending and needs to boost weak links.

Noting that culture and tourism are key pillars of China's economy, Sun said that China will improve regulations and standards to ensure credibility in the cultural and tourism sector.
