CNIA urges U.S. to prioritize tech advancement over tariffs

00:55

The U.S. will impose a 25 percent tariff on all imported steel and aluminum starting March 12. In an interview with CGTN, Chen Xuesen, vice chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, noted that China's aluminum exports to the U.S. remain limited in volume. He urged the U.S. to prioritize technological upgrades, such as adopting advanced foreign processing methods and reducing production costs, over relying on tariff protections to enhance domestic industry competitiveness.
