On March 9, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that President Donald Trump's policy – a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum imports from all countries – would take effect from March 12. This policy has sparked widespread concern amid global discourse.
CGTN Stringer interviewed workers from the steel and aluminum industries in Vietnam and Brazil to gather their perspectives on the tariffs. Vietnamese workers in the steel and aluminum industry expressed concerns that the new tariffs have made it more difficult for Vietnamese aluminum products to enter the U.S. market. Meanwhile, Brazilian entrepreneur Alderir Gutierres said a 25 percent tariff would disrupt a market organized by the World Trade Organization for many years, alongside having a huge impact on Brazil.
