Lai Ching-te, leader of the Taiwan region, once again advocates separatism, saying the two sides of the Taiwan Straits are "not subordinate to each other." Calling the mainland a threat, Lai is trying to instigate a response. Lai has been raising the fallacy of "Taiwan independence" before the U.S. on various occasions. Little does he realize that he's only being used as a pawn by the U.S. to contain China.
