China's Olympic champion Xu Mengtao earned the silver medal in the women's aerials final at the Federation of International Ski and Snowboard (FIS) Freestyle World Cup in Livigno, Italy on Thursday.
Xu landed a back full-full-full in the final and scored 105.17 points to rank second. Australia's Laura Peel also completed the same manueuver, scoring 112.90 to win the gold medal. China's Chen Meiting finished third with 91.44 points.
In the men's aerials, Sun Jiaxu took silver with 113.73 points, while Chinese compatriot Wang Xindi, the winner at the World Cup stop in Almaty, ranked fourth with 101.00. Switzerland's Noe Roth claimed the gold medal with 130.05 and his countryman Pirmin Werner placed third.
China's Olympic champion Qi Guangpu failed to advance to the final at the Italian resort, but topped the overall World Cup standings with 400 points to claim this season's Crystal Globe.
This stop marks the final event of the Aerials World Cup season and Livigno will host the aerials competitions during the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics in less than a year's time.
