China calls for the continuous and effective implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said at a Tuesday press conference in Beijing. Mao's comments came following reports of Israeli large-scale air strikes on the Gaza Strip early Tuesday, which broke the ceasefire and resulted in at least 300 deaths, mostly women and children.
