For a long while now, China has said that the United States could one day, for its own interest, abandon the separatists in the Taiwan region. Now, that reality seems to be finally sinking in for them. Without the U.S. to fall back on, Lai Ching-te turns to the residents in Taiwan, hoping to frighten and intimidate them into supporting his separatist agenda.
