A global research team led by Chinese scientists has achieved quantum-secured communication over 12,900 kilometers between China and South Africa. It marks a major step toward a global quantum network.
Using the Jinan-1 micro-nano satellite and compact ground stations, the team from the University of Science and Technology of China enabled real-time quantum key distribution (QKD) between the satellite and the stations.
