Chinese, Cuban dignitaries discuss strengthening ties in Havana event

An event titled "China in Springtime: Sharing Opportunities with the World Global Dialogue" brought together over 100 guests from politics, business, academia and media from Cuba and China in Havana on Wednesday.

Hosted by China Media Group (CMG), discussions centered on China's modernization, the opportunities brought by China's science and technology and economic development to Cuba and Latin America, and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba.

Shen Haixiong, president of the CMG, emphasized that CMG is willing to leverage its world-class integrated communication and technological innovation advantages to share the development opportunities of Chinese modernization with friends around the world.

Shen stressed that CMG is willing to share China's new technological innovation opportunities with friends around the world, share the experience of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries, and contribute to promoting common prosperity for the world and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hua Xin, the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, said that this year, the Two Sessions underscored China's firm commitment to further expanding high-standard opening-up, injecting confidence and strength into the global economy.

Noting that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba, Hua said China is willing to work together with Cuba to build a China-Cuba community with a shared future, deliver more benefits to two peoples, and contribute to world peace and development.

Fernando González Llort, the Cuban president of the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, said at the event that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba, noting that the everlasting friendship of the two nations has grown stronger over time.

China has given strong support to Cuba in areas including food aid, climate change, energy security and transformation, which has provided great help for Cuba to break the economic blockade, he added.

Cuba is willing to work with China to contribute to building a world of lasting peace and universal security, he noted.
