Wang Yi: China-Japan ties to thrive with high-quality development

Highlighting the strong resilience and broad prospects of the Chinese economy, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday told former Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai that China's high-quality development will create new opportunities for China-Japan cooperation.

During their meeting, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, commended Nikai for adhering to the original spirit of peace and friendship between China and Japan, and for his long-standing commitment to promoting the development of bilateral relations.

He encouraged Nikai and Japanese friends from all sectors of society to make new contributions to the healthy and stable development of Sino-Japanese relations.

Wang noted that China is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Japan and strengthen exchanges in various fields, especially youth and local-level exchanges.

Nikai positively evaluated the improving momentum of Japan-China relations and stressed the importance of promoting friendly exchanges between the people of both countries.

He pledged to contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.
