A mass shooting occurred at Young Park in Las Cruces in the U.S. state of New Mexico Friday evening, leaving "multiple gunshot victims," the Las Cruces Police said in a Facebook post.

Most victims were transported to local hospitals and some were taken to University Medical Center of El Paso, the police said, adding that "at this time, police do not have the number of victims or the extent of their injuries."

Local TV channel KFOX reported that at least one person was killed as a result of the shooting, while KVIA TV earlier reported four injuries due to the incident.

The police said they are still trying to identify the suspect or suspects in this case.
