Harbin, the capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, has been named the country's top ice and snow tourism destination, according to a list released by the China Tourism Academy in January.
One of the city's shining jewels, the world-renowned Harbin Ice-Snow World, welcomed 3.56 million tourist visits during its 68 days of operation since December 21, 2024.
Data from the China Tourism Academy shows that in the 2023–2024 ice and snow season, China's ice and snow activities had 430 million tourist visits, generating a total tourism revenue of 524.7 billion yuan ($72.39 billion). Between 2018 and 2024, the country's total investment in the ice and snow tourism industry amounted to 1.3157 trillion yuan ($181.51 billion).
