China's U22 picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory over South Korea in a friendly in Yancheng, east China's Jiangsu Province on Sunday night.
The clash kicked off with an electrifying moment as Chen Zeshi's free kick rattled the crossbar, almost giving China an early lead. Then in the 20th minute, Qingdao West Coast midfielder Xu Bin intercepted the ball in the middle of the park, driving it towards the final third and unleashing a powerful long-range effort, only to be denied by a brilliant save from the South Korean goalkeeper.
The intensity built as the second half unfolded, leading to a crucial corner kick for China in the 86th minute. Peng Xiao rose to meet the ball with a header that struck the woodwork, but Liu Haofan was quick to pounce on the rebound, scoring the decisive goal. The late effort proved to be the winner for the hosts.
