Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude for the mediation efforts provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the implementation of the exchange of detainees between Russia and Ukraine during his phone call with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Kremlin said in a statement on Monday.

The leaders also discussed the current development of the Russia-U.S. dialogue with the aim of finding ways to peacefully resolve the Ukrainian conflict and normalize bilateral ties between Moscow and Washington, the statement says.

The two leaders also reaffirmed the close coordination in the "OPEC plus" format.
