The Guangdong Southern Tigers have outclassed the Guangsha Lions 84-74 at home and put an end to the league leaders' impressive six-game winning streak in the CBA.
With Guangsha having already secured the top spot in the regular season with three games to spare, their performance showed signs of complacency. In contrast, Guangdong continued the fiery momentum they had displayed in the first quarter of their previous two games, launching a 20-5 offensive surge in the latter half of the first quarter and finishing it with a 15-point lead.
In the second quarter, Hu Mingxuan led Guangdong to a 17-point advantage, but Guangdong hit a rough patch in the third quarter, struggling to find the basket, while Guangsha capitalized on Zhu Junlong's three-pointers to tie the game at 46.
Despite this, Guangsha was hampered by the absence of key players like Hu Jinqiu, which limited their scoring capabilities. Guangdong gradually stretched their lead once more and secured the victory with a 10-point margin, marking their second consecutive win and positioning them in fifth.
Elsewhere, the Beikong Royal Fighters beat the Shanxi Loongs at home 116-107 for their third straight victory. The Qingdao Eagles celebrated an impressive 106-82 victory over the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, extending their winning streak to four games.
Meanwhile, the Shandong Kylins, currently ranked third in the league, showcased a brilliant performance in the second half, achieving a comfortable 105-80 away victory over the Sichuan Blue Whales.
