A cutting-edge underwater intelligent computing center was launched in south China's Hainan Province to promote the digital economy and China's nationwide integrated computing network. Compared to traditional land-based computing centers, it not only saves water, electricity and land usage, but also possesses enhanced reliability and security as well as lower delay. With underwater data capsules placed on the sea floor and linked to land-based stations, the Hainan Undersea Computing Cluster marks the first underwater computing center open for commercial use. Computing centers provide the backbone for training and operating large-scale AI models, which are fueling a boom in China's private tech enterprises.
