The U.S. decision to add dozens of Chinese entities to its export restrictions list is a typical act of hegemony, and China will take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticized the U.S. for abusing its entity list and other export control tools under the pretext of national security and foreign policy concerns.

He called the move an illegal unilateral sanction, which seriously violates international law and fundamental norms governing international relations, harms the legitimate rights of businesses, and disrupts the stability and security of global industrial and supply chains.

"China firmly opposes and strongly condemns such actions," he stated.

Guo urged the U.S. to stop overstretching the concept of national security, and politicizing and weaponizing economic, trade, and technological issues. He called on Washington to cease its arbitrary use of sanctions lists to suppress Chinese companies.

China will take necessary measures to resolutely defend the legitimate rights of Chinese enterprises, he concluded.
