At a critical moment for global trade and green finance, Pierre Gramegna, managing director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), highlighted the importance of China-EU cooperation. In an interview with CGTN's Guan Xin, he emphasized that as two major export economies, China and Europe share common interests in maintaining a multilateral trade system, particularly in response to rising U.S. tariffs. He noted that both sides advocate reducing protectionism and resolving disputes through the WTO framework. As U.S. attention to environmental, social, and governance factors (ESG) investments wanes, Gramegna called for stronger China-EU collaboration to ensure financial systems support the transition to a green economy.
