In 1937, an investigation team from the Society for the Study of Chinese Architecture came across Foguang Temple, breaking the myth that Tang-dynasty (618-907) buildings had only survived in Japan. Nestled in the scenic Wutai Mountain region of Shanxi Province, Foguang Temple is one of China's most treasured Buddhist sites.
