The recent restrictive policies rolled out by Taiwan authorities led by Lai Ching-te are acts of terror politics and dictatorship, according to Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
Portraying the mainland as a "hostile external force," Lai recently outlined 17 strategies to counter so-called threats facing the island. These include a number of restrictive policies on mutual visits by Taiwan and mainland residents on cultural, academic and religious exchanges. Many on the island have criticized the policies for creating "green terror," referring to Lai's Democratic Progressive Party, which is known as the green side in local politics.
Chen commented on the policies at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.
