On February 28, 2025, the Latvian animated film "Flow" was released in mainland China. This fantasy adventure animation, co-produced by Latvia, France and Belgium and directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, won the 97th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
On March 14, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in China held a special viewing event, titled "A Journey of Shared Destiny." Karlis Eihenbaums, Latvian ambassador to China, expressed his appreciation for the animated film's box office performance. After the screening, Martins Upitis, responsible for the water special effects in the film, joined through a live call to tell the story behind the film. Freshmen majoring in Latvian at Beijing Foreign Studies University also enthusiastically addressed the film director in fluent Latvian, looking forward to his collaboration with the Chinese animated film team!
