China's Commerce Ministry announced Thursday that China has filed a lawsuit against the United States over its additional tariff measures. The lawsuit was filed under the World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement mechanism, and China will follow the relevant WTO procedures in taking the next steps.
In a press briefing this afternoon, spokesperson He Yadong described the U.S. tariff actions as a clear example of unilateralism and protectionism, which severely violate WTO rules.
"In response to these tariffs, China has initiated a lawsuit under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism. The U.S. agreed to consultations under this mechanism on March 14, and China will continue to advance the procedures in accordance with WTO rules," said He.
