The latest batch of Chinese humanitarian aid has been delivered to Gaza. The 60,000 food parcels are part of a wider aid package announced earlier this month. Our correspondent Rami Almeghari reports from Gaza.

The first batch of China's latest humanitarian aid has arrived in the Gaza Strip, allocated to alleviate the suffering of affected families and enhance food security in the Strip.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society is coordinating distribution of the Chinese food aid to displaced Palestinian families who lost their homes amid Israeli strikes here.

SALEEM ABU RAS Palestine Red Crescent Society "Our food parcel contains many necessities that have not been available, such as sugar, oil, salt and rice, all of which are expensive at the market. Aid will be distributed to 6,200 displaced families whose homes were destroyed."

Palestinian families, struggling amid harsh humanitarian conditions, began gathering in the early morning eager to receive the food parcels provided by China.

FAHED AL-SOUSI Palestinian Refugee "The Chinese and Qatari aid is useful to us and meets our needs; the goods at market are very expensive for us, so we cannot buy them. Thank God. We received the aid through the Red Crescent because our financial situation is dire."

Saleh Jibril is among Palestinians to receive the Chinese aid, expressing deep gratitude for the support.

AM SAAD JIBRIL Palestinian Refugee "The aid arrived on time and contained many necessary items for the house, such as rice, lentils and oil – all of which are very well received – especially in the lead-up to Ramadan. Our conditions are very difficult, and we are happy to receive a food parcel that will help fill the deficit in our home."

According to a signed agreement, China will provide aid worth some 2.75 million dollars, delivered in six separate shipments.

RAMI ALMEGHARI Gaza "In light of the tragic circumstances experienced by the Palestinian refugees, the first batch of Chinese humanitarian aid arrives to relieve them from the severity of hunger and extend a hand of hope to them towards rebuilding their lives. Rami Almeghari, CGTN, Gaza City."
