Six out of eight athletes from China have advanced to the aerials finals of the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle, and Freeski World Championships in Switzerland on Saturday.
In the women's qualifying rounds, China's Xu Mengtao and Chen Xuezheng completed their back double Full-Full jumps successfully. China's Chen Meiting chose a back layout Full-Full in the first round but landed badly and finished ninth in the first round. But she still raised that difficulty degree in the second round of qualifying, and chose a back flip triple Full. She made a mistake in the routine but still qualified for the final with 77.33 points.
On the men's side, China's Wang Xindi and Sun Jiaxu also advanced to the final. China had four athletes competing, and in the first round, all four of them chose a back layout double Full-Full with a 4.425 degree of difficulty.
Wang executed the jump very well but had a slight flaw on the landing, and received 116.37 points, good for third place and a spot in the final. In the second round, the rest of the team chose a more difficult trick and all failed to perform their best. Sun advanced to the final with 111.95 points while Olympic champion Qi Guangpu and Li Tianma were eliminated.
