Pabongka, which means "Palace on the Rock," dates back to the 7th century. Nestled in a mountain hollow north of Lhasa, it sits atop two massive turtle-shaped rocks, a distinctive feature that inspired its name. Perched at an altitude of around 3,900 meters, the monastery offers sweeping views of Lhasa, making it a perfect spot for both spiritual reflection and scenic appreciation.
