DPP authorities slammed for persecuting mainland spouses

A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Tuesday condemned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities for persecuting mainland spouses in Taiwan, calling their actions "inhumane."

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in response to a media query about the recent expulsion of two mainland spouses by the DPP authorities.

Zhu criticized the DPP for repeatedly abusing judicial power to target mainland spouses, leading to family separations and violating basic human rights.

These actions were part of a broader campaign to silence dissent and escalate confrontation and tensions across the Taiwan Straits, she said.

The DPP's so-called democracy only serves its own interests, and "freedom" exists only for those supporting "Taiwan independence," Zhu added.

She urged the public in Taiwan to recognize the dangers and stand up for their rights, warning that those who persecute mainland spouses in support of "Taiwan independence" will be held accountable and face legal consequences.
