Former New Zealand PM urges need for high-level female representation

2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Jennifer Shipley, New Zealand's first female prime minister, recalled her participation in that women's conference three decades ago. She said the Beijing Declaration continues to be a framework in the fight for gender equality and women's empowerment. With China set to host the Global Summit of Women later this year, Shipley talked about the importance of high-level female representation.
