According to the latest official statistics released by Myanmar authorities, at least 2,886 people were killed, 4,639 injured and over 370 missing after a magnitude-7.9 quake hit the country last week. Rescue operations are still ongoing. Mang Shi, a Chinese travel vlogger who was in Mandalay, Myanmar, at the time of the earthquake, narrated to CGTN his harrowing experience during the event and his subsequent journey to Yangon.

On March 28, Mang experienced tremors near the U Bein Bridge in Mandalay, stating that he felt the ground shake violently. Some foreign tourists were relocated to a rural area northeast of Mandalay. Along the route, he observed several buildings that had collapsed. The following day, March 29, he was evacuated by bus to Yangon, with the journey taking 17 hours.
