Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a united effort to build a "Beautiful China" and make the country even greener through afforestation efforts. During a voluntary tree-planting activity in Beijing on Thursday, President Xi emphasized the need to continue expanding, rejuvenating and protecting green spaces. Meanwhile, he stressed the need to improve grassland ecology, boost the forestry industry, and create jobs linked to land conservation. Xi also mentioned that forest coverage in China now surpasses 25 percent, meaning the country accounts for a quarter of the global increase in green areas.
