Hu Jinqiu named MVP as Guangsha dominate CBA regular season awards

The Chinese Basketball Association has announced the awards for the regular season, with Hu Jinqiu, center for the Guangsha Lions, being named Most Valuable Player. This marks the second time in his career that Hu has received the MVP accolade, having previously won it during the 2021-2022 season.

The Lions' Wang Bo has been honored as the Best Coach of the season, guiding his team to an impressive 39-7 record, which crowned them the regular season champions. Adding to the Lions' accolades, Sun Minghui has been named the Best Defensive Player.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Lofton, a standout foreign player for the Shanghai Sharks, has claimed the Best International Player award. The former NBA star has made a significant impact, appearing in 34 regular season games and averaging 25.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 32.3 minutes per game. Lofton's stellar performance was crucial in propelling Shanghai from a mid-season slump to a remarkable 16-game winning streak, ultimately securing a playoff spot in tenth place.

The Beijing Ducks' Zeng Fanbo has been recognized as the Most Improved Player, while Ren Junfei of the Guangdong Southern Tigers has captured the Best Sixth Man award. Yang Hansen of the Qingdao Eagles has been named the Best Young Player of the Year.
